More than seven months into Russia’s war in Ukraine it is too early to see its end, but enough time has passed in order to learn preliminary strategic and military lessons.
For those of us in the Middle East, it is especially important to apply these emerging lessons to our region in general and most particularly to Syria – where Russia has air and naval assets, out of which it has reinforced its formations in Ukraine, and whose presence bolstering the Assad regime carries a constant risk of friction with the Israel Defense Forces.
