Videos Of The Six Missions That The 12 Astronauts Who Walked The Moon

A total of 12 astronauts walked on the Moon during the Apollo program between 1969 and 1972. Here are their names in the order of their lunar landings:

Apollo 11 (July 1969)

  1. Neil Armstrong – First person to walk on the Moon.
  2. Buzz Aldrin – Second person to walk on the Moon.

Apollo 12 (November 1969)

  1. Charles “Pete” Conrad – Third person to walk on the Moon.
  2. Alan Bean – Fourth person to walk on the Moon.

Apollo 14 (February 1971)

  1. Alan Shepard – Fifth person to walk on the Moon; also the oldest.
  2. Edgar Mitchell – Sixth person to walk on the Moon.

Apollo 15 (July 1971)

  1. David Scott – Seventh person to walk on the Moon.
  2. James Irwin – Eighth person to walk on the Moon.

Apollo 16 (April 1972)

  1. John Young – Ninth person to walk on the Moon.
  2. Charles Duke – Tenth person to walk on the Moon; also the youngest.

Apollo 17 (December 1972)

  1. Eugene Cernan – Eleventh person to walk on the Moon; also the last to leave it.
  2. Harrison “Jack” Schmitt – Twelfth person to walk on the Moon; a geologist and the only scientist to do so.

These missions remain the only instances of humans walking on the Moon.
